a Resource for Computer Recycling

Recycling--it isn't just for cans and paper anymore.

With a conservative EPA estimate of 500 million surplus computers in the United States by 2007, the need for "e-scrap" recycling is enormous.

Anticipating our clients' need to recycle older computer equipment, Leapfrog began a recycling initiative in 2004. Seeing the lack of resources for e-scrap recycling, we opened this program to the community. Since then, hundreds of individuals, businesses and organizations have contacted us for recycling assistance.

By participating in this recycling effort, your organization can:

Help the Environment

e-Scrap contains elements that can be hazardous to the environment and to human health if not properly disposed. Plus, many of the materials that make up e-scrap can be recycled and reused, thereby conserving resources and energy. Help us to support the anti-pollution initiatives of the Georgia Conservancy and the Georgia DNR.

Help the Community

e-Scrap recycling provides jobs and has other positive effects on the economy. Our program also puts used computers on the desks of people who need them. Many of the computer systems collected by Leapfrog have been refurbished and donated to schools, nonprofits and families, bridging the "Digital Divide."

Help Facilitate Best IT Practices

e-Scrap recycling is part of the technology refresh plan of many companies. It provides for the disposal of electronics in compliance with state and federal regulations. Permanent data deletion is conducted to ensure that the privacy of records is not breached.
